La Chandeleur – Crêpes et Conversation

Join us for our first major activity for 2012. La Chandeleur is always on February 2 and it is the day to eat crêpes in France. Come and have dinner with us. Come and speak some French too ! The theme this year is ‘le plus beau chapeau’ so go fossicking for your fedora, bring forth your bowler and polish your pillbox. Join in the tongue-twister competition. Prizes to be won.

When:             Thursday, February 2 ~ 6pm – 9pm at Virginia Todd centre (9 Clarence Street, Geelong West)

Cost:               $12 non-members, $10 members & $5 children up to 12 years old, includes:

one savoury crêpe, one sweet crêpe and one glass of non-alcoholic apple cider

Membership 2012

Membership renewal is due by the end of February. For current members a form will be sent out with the newsletter. Anyone taking a class with the Alliance Française de Geelong becomes a member automatically and does not need to return the form. An updated membership form is available in the ‘Contact Us’ section. Membership offers cheaper rates on all our activities including the Af de Geelong Touring French Film Festival in May. It also entitles you to a 10% discount when booking accommodation at the Moulin de Corde, a Geelong-owned property near Dijon, Burgundy. Further details available at www.moulindecordeburgundy.com.

Come along for an enjoyable night full of French ambiance.

Emma Hamilton is a young French-Australian who sings new and classic songs in French and English.

The Wrong Crowd is a cosy venue which sells a large range of drinks (French liqueurs and aperitifs, absinthe, cocktails, imported craft beer and cider, wines by the glass or bottle etc.).

The Alliance Française de Geelong will sell cheese platters featuring Timboon’s L’Artisan cheeses.
